PMC Performance Horses is located in Northern Ontario and is an elite and full service Boarding, Showing, Sales, Lesson and Training facility. Owned and managed by Penny McAlpine-Clayton and Karen McAlpine.
The farm has long been known as Timberlock where Penny was raised and discovered her love of horses from a very early age. Following in the footsteps of her parents Karen and Greg, Penny had an early appreciation for animals and farming. Karen and Greg began a successful dog breeding program which grew into a full-scale boarding, training and grooming business.
After the loss of Penny’s father Greg to Cancer in 2005, she, her mother Karen and her two brothers successfully carried on running the family business together.
Penny had a dream from childhood to run her very own equestrian operation and now that dream has finally come true.
As a young competitor, Penny showed local and provincial circuits on her first pony named High Flyer. Many wins and championships were earned during her years on the Trillium circuit learning from industry powerhouses like Cathy Inch of FootHills Farm. Penny and her Warmblood mare Blame it on Rio went on to even more successes in the Hack, Working Hunter, Low Hunter and Trillium Hunter divisions.
A change in focus came when Penny began training and successfully showing her own AQHA performance horses, many of which have achieved great things on the AQHA circuit in Western and English Performance classes. Paired with her mare Gracefully Hot, Penny began competing in the open classes of Western Pleasure and HUS.
PMC Performance Horses now successfully competes internationally in both Canada and the USA, including local shows and prestigious events such as the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus Ohio.
Between Karen, her partner Darren, Penny, and the welcoming family of clients, students and boarders at PMC, Timberlock is a property bursting with life and hope for a very bright future. We needed a suitable place for our mare to have her foal. In
When searching for a training and boarding facility for my mare, PMC was the first place that had come to mind, and I have zero regrets about my decision!
The facility is spotless, with a huge, bright indoor arena, 2 barns, acres and acres of turnout, and beautifully kept trails.
I board my horse (Rich) at PMC and am an active participant in the lesson, training and show programs. PMC provides a positive, fun and safe environment for riders of all levels. The atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive for all ages.
Penny is extremely knowledgeable about horse healthcare and training and is very proactive in addressing and resolving a variety of issues. One of the greatest aspects of Penny’s program is the balance she provides for riders between successfully showing and enjoying their horses on a daily basis. I have exceeded my goals in the show ring while having a horse who enjoys trail rides and daily turnout. Penny’s passion for horses is contagious and it is evident that she genuinely loves sharing her gift with others. I have been pushed outside my comfort zone in a manner that has not only developed my skills, but also my confidence. PMC has allowed me to reach my dreams while gaining friendships that will last a lifetime.I have been a client/student of PMC Performance Horses for about 5 years as a riding student. Over the years me and my daughter have grown a great deal and have been able to compete together as a result of Penny’s teaching. We have our horse stabled at their facility and she genuinely is treated like the Princess Show Horse that she is. Having her so well cared for makes balancing our work, school and hobby so much easier.
Recently a group of friends and I signed up for an Equine Assisted Learning Date Night at PMC. It was a fabulous, fun twist on date night that not only got us learning something new, but improving our communication with our partner (both 2 legged and 4 legged partners) in a relaxed environment. We learned
